Hi all,
I am looking to build a crate up and was looking to perform the cable management inside myself - I have seem many systems are integrated with flat ribbon cable with IDC connectors.
I have found however that there exists such cable bound in a round format that you can strip, flatten out, and mount IDC connectors on (https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/b00039389/).
I haven't seen any use of such cable, perhaps because there are some downsides - but ones I cannot forsee any from a cable management perspective... does anyone know of any problems I may face?
Similarly there is a more expensive shielded version of such cable (https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/b00039391/) although unfortunately doesn't come in a 30 way variant - is EMI a problem with these cables that's worth shielding?
Cheers,
Tom
