unable to detect stabilizer usb connection

This wasnt a problem before, and when I was trying to reconfigure the IP address since the broker's IP has changed, the stabilizer simply could not be detected on the computer as a device. The established USB-serial connection was never identified.

The computer is a linux computer, debug was attempted in plugging and unplugging the ethernet for PoE. In both cases, stabilizer could not be detected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Zicheng!

Assuming you are stuck at step 3, could you try to find which group does the port /dev/ttyACM0 belongs to using ls -l /dev/ttyACM0 command. Your user account might need to be a part of that group. If not, please add yourself to it.

I am working with Zicheng on the Stabilizer issue. Unfortunately, /dev/ttyACM0 is not being created at all on this system. When running dmesg -w while plugging and unplugging the device, there is no kernel output, and lsusb shows no change either. As a sanity check we tried using the same cable on the same computer with an ESP32, and the computer fully recognizes and properly assigns it to /dev/ttyUSB0. This suggests the Stabilizer is not being detected at the USB layer, and points toward a possible issue with the Stabilizer hardware or firmware.

I presume some hardware debugging is needed. We tested USB connections with other SINARA stabilizers in the lab and it worked perfectly except for this one.

A colleague mentioned that the usb connector pins solder could be sometimes fragile.
