Hi,

I recently tried outputting 16 channels across four Urukuls (V1.3 - AD9910) with two additional power supplies through the Kasli (V1.1) backplane (V1.1). Upon outputting the signal, two of the Urukuls showed a 'Fault' light and would not power up again after power cycling. The Fault light also appeared after disconnecting the Urukuls from the Kasli and reconnecting only one (One of the 'Fault' ones) and also when moving the Urukul to a different EEM port. I also replaced the IDC cables with a duplicate: This caused the Urukul to stay on for a little longer before entering Fault mode. During this time window I was able to reflash the Urukul, but it still reentered Fault mode a few seconds later. I also tried reflashing the Kasli, but there was no change.

I'm not sure what to do here. Are there any other fixes I could apply or is it the case that these two Urukuls need replacing? Any help is appreciated.

Best regards,
Luke

Did you hotplug any EEM cables?
    Were cards subjected to ESD?

      Hi sb10q

The EEM cables were not hotplugged and I'm not aware of an unwarranted ESD. We've tried a couple of other fixes, swapping IDC cables/SMP wires and reusing working wires, as well as using a variable power supply to check the current draw from the Kasli.

We believe the problem may have occurred because I didn't ground the Kasli/Urukul boards from their floating state. Using a variable power supply we were about to ground the Kasli power connector through the negative terminal, but this didn't resolve the issue.

It's likely the Xilinx chips are damaged. This is doubly suggested from the Digilent software, which doesn't acknowledge the Faulty Urukul boards when connected via the JTAG.

      Hi @LukeBaker,
the fault red LED means there is an over-temperature shutdown:

Do your boards heat excessively? If not, it may mean that IC12 is a problem.
